Herpes zoster is one of the viral diseases and it was characterized by painful skin rash. The blisters will be in a limited area in one side of the body. It is commonly known as shingles and also known as zona.Children and young people are generally affected by this viral disease. The varicella zoster virus cause short-lived chickenpox etc…, once the chickenpox has resolved the virus is not eliminated from body but there may be a chance to cause shingles. This virus may spread along nerves. Usually the rash heals in 2 or 4 weeks. But some people experience nerve pain for months or years. Throughout the world the rate of Herpes Zoster virus increases every year. Since ancient times onwards it has be known and it carries the name used by Hippocrates. Prevention is uncertain here. Avoid contact with people who have skin lesions with known Herpes Zoster infection. The chicken pox vaccine is a recommended childhood vaccine to prevent this disease. A cause for the reactivation of the virus is never found in most cases of shingles.
